I have used one at 9000 ft. with no noticeable difference at all. Mine wasn't exactly like the one shown in the video, but the principle is the same. Works great!

WW & I have made a slightly heavier version from a Budweiser aluminum bottle. (Bet I've drank a case just for the bottles) they work great & are fun to make. Have given several away to friends that give great reviews. Google penny stoves & you cand spend hours deciding on what stove you want to make.

Well, my daughter and I just did this little experiment but a little different. I drilled holes in the top, and used a can opener to remove the top...MUCH cleaner cut! I did crease the one end like in the video to make it easier to slide the two pieces together. Unfortunately, I creased too far and the flames came out the side instead of the holes i drilled. It was fun practice and my seven year old thought it was cool to do an experiment with me. I'll play around with the concept over the weekend until I get one that works like I think it can.

Would anyone JUST bring this into the back country or is it more of a backup stove?

We did a short 2 nighter a couple years ago with one as our only heat source. About 3 oz of the fuel additive heat will boil 2 cups just fine. If all your doing is MH meals or boiling water for coffee or hot chocolate, they are great.
