Tree stand saftey device ... I like it!

Postby Indian Summer » 12 08, 2013 •  [Post 1]

For those who use tree stands... even with a standard safety harness there can be problems after a fall. A friend showed me this and I thought I'd pass it on. Lowers you slowly and automatically to the ground. On sale at Cabela's right now for about $60. Ebay for less with free shipping. The only downside which doesn't change my opinion is it's a one time use device if that matters. I don't plan on needing to save my life more than that! If I have to use it I'll be glad I had it and surely glad to buy another.

They make 2 models. 115 to 200 pounds and 200 to 300 pounds. That should cover it. Can't say I've ever known anyone going 300+ to use a tree stand much.

Some of the places I hunt elk I may consider strapping quarters on and throwing them over the side of the hill! :-)
