The weakest link

Tent zippers. With all the tents I've owned, except my wall tent, the zippers always break or separate leaving me with a great tent that's useless. I've looked locally for anyone to repair zippers with no luck. I've searched the web and tried all kinds of recommended solutions for repairs. Some of them actually work temporarily, but can't find a permanent fix short of tearing out the old zipper and replacing it. The slide seems to be the main problem. Anyone have any good solutions that actually work for you?

Your local saddle shop, if you have one near by, should be able to do repairs for you.

I have a Cabela's tent that I had the zipper replaced at a shoe repair shop. The second zipper also went bad due to poor tent design. Everything else is still in good shape, so I got some heavy duty snaps at Wal-mart, and put a snap every 6" or so along the zipper. It's not the best, but at least the tent's still usable.

zippers..love em and hate em.

so far, all my tents have come from REI. they take them back all the time and give me a new one. just gave back a BA two man..full of leaves and pine needles..and walked out with a new one.

i've never known who can fix a tent. saddle shop..who knew?
