Best device for recording elk calls

What are some good devices for recording elk calls in the mountains?
I work for a ski resort and have been going out early before work and practicing calls with a lot of interest and am wanting to record them and ask folks with more experience than I just what they're saying. Thanks

Jeff, just about any decent camcorder will pick up elk sounds, even distance ones. Experiment with one & see how it picks up sounds. Ours is not an expensive unit (600.00) & it picks up bugles & such pretty decent!

If you have a smartphone, they usually have a voice recording option. I've recorded coyotes and bobcats successfully, was really surprised that it picked up the cat as it was very faint. Hopefully I'll get my first elk sounds next week!
