Feathers Vs Blazers

Hey guys,I have mixed feelings when it come to fetching blazers to i was thinking of using fetching tape and feathers.First, are feathers durable enough for the elk woods?whats about the feathers getting wet?I love the idea of feathers,they are lighter and i hear they give stable your arrow better in flight.whats your all thoughts on this.

I have used Blazers, vanes and feathers.
I now only use feathers and vanes.

Yes. Feathers fly great. But they look like a wet chicken when it rains.
Vanes fly good too and weigh just a tad more but not enough to notice.

In my quiver, I have both vanes and feathers.
If it rains I use the vanes. If dry use feathers

Feathers 'buzz' a little more than vanes.

I'm a little confused. Aren't blazers just a type of vane?

Blazers are a 2" vane. Blaser is just the name they are stiffer then stanard vanes.

ive been reading that this dry waterproof powder works well and some claim only have to apply it a couple time a season,if thats that case im sold!anyone use this dry powder stuff?

I have the powder, but never have used it.

To clarify, I use 4in plastic DuraVanes - not 2" Blazers

I'll take a mixed quiver. Probably three arrows fletched with feathers and one with blazers. The blazers have shot great for me all year, but I know without a doubt that the feathers are a little more forgiving and in the heat of the moment I may need all the help I can get. The feathers will be waterproofed and the one arrow with blazers will be just in case the feathers do develop problems.

A couple of years ago I spent the first 4 days of the hunt in rain of rain drenched equipment. My buddy and I both had feathers. We tried the powder stuff and it didn't help any. When we got back to camp on the second afternoon we decided to take a couple practice shots to see how our arrows were affected. We both tried to dry them as much as possible. The first shot at 20 yards was 2 feet over the target. Luckily we had arrows with vanes at base camp. I would stick with vanes, but I love feathers. That's my experience.
