Paradox Packs

Some of you here know that kevin_t and I have been designing a new pack. We are almost ready to launch. I'll be re-working the website a bit this week, so I wanted to get some feedback from you guys to see specifically what needs to be explained better, where we need photos, etc, etc.

Paradox Packs

Some features of the pack:

• Patent Pending load responsive articulating frame: The frame is stiff and stable at extremely heavy loads, but due to the articulation it is also very comfortable with light daypack sized loads.
• Pack bags are made from X-Pac material, which is a four-ply laminate that is completely waterproof for the life of the fabric.
• The suspension is the most comfortable I've used. The belt does not slip or deform even under 120+ lb loads.

If you've got questions, comments, or helpful feedback on what I can rework on the site I'd appreciate it.

Your grey pack reminds me of the Stone Glacier Terminus pack.

LOL, Paul, the lime green dry bag isn't something we're offering. That is a Sea to Summit 65L Big River dry bag and I put it in the photo to show that the frame is usable as a dry bag hauler by itself...or usable to pack a quarter by itself because it comes standard with three horizontal compression straps, a load shelf, and a compression panel.

Then in the far right photo I used the dry bag again to show the load shelf feature with a pack bag. The color contrast is a bit bright, but it sure is easy to see in the photos. Just imagine a bloody quarter bag there instead.

I appreciate the kind words. I think the gray/black pack looks nice. IIRC Kurt uses a gray cordura in his packs, and we're using a gray X-Pac so the color batches are probably a bit different, and we have water bottle pockets on ours. I like the look of his packs. I think they look really nailed, so I appreciate the comparison.

We're planning on that, just need to prototype a different packbag we've been thinking about that should fit his needs better than a big single compartment bag designed for backpacking.

Paul, I've put on 25 miles at 100+ lbs in the Evo's development. Total right now I think we are at 50 or 55 miles with 100+. We set out to design the most comfortable big load pack on the market, and in my opinion we did that. The breakthrough was adding articulation to the frame which also makes the pack truly comfortable with light daypack loads. We filed a patent app on the frame last week.

Love to see a guy follow his dream. Good luck. One thing (IMO) - gotta do a WAY better job of showing what the pack does and how it looks. Close ups, bags open, etc. Check out the sophisticated presentations on your competitors sites. It's hard enough to drop $600 on a pack, but if you don't have a real sense of what it is/does, via photography, it REALLY makes it a tough prospect. Just an opinion from a guy that might be in the market. Again, congrats on what looks to be a fantastic option for backcountry hunters.

I went to SLC last week for Outdoor Retailer. We met with Sea to Summit so hopefully we can start offering package deals with dry bags. I saw a lot of gear coming soon, most of which was marketing based but some was very intriguing. I talked with Dana Gleason of Mystery Ranch for a bit.

The highlight of SLC for me was the Wasatch.

Then to the San Juans for a few days. My wife and I climbed Sneffels.

It was fun, hard, and a bit scary being at 14,150.

Yesterday we scouted a bit for elk up at 13k.

Heard quite a few bugles, and found some bighorn rams.

The packs did great. They really do feel locked into your body. We got some video and will be uploading it over the next week or so.

Great trip. Elevation above 12k is a butt kicker but I held my own- slowly. And I learned that 13+ gives me a headache.

Ahh, ok. You're lucky, the Wasatch are magnificent. I was able to do a couple hikes up in Cottonwood Canyon while I was there.

Interestingly coming out from a hike about two miles back my wife and I met a couple of young mule deer hunters packing in for a weekend scouting trip. They were headed 3-5 miles in and had treestands strapped on the outside of their Badlands 2800's. they were both miserable with their 60 lb loads. One of them said no pack felt good with more than 50. I gave them both a card. I've done that exact thing, and those bad experiences are what created Paradox.

kudos on the videos. I didn't have much of a feel for the system from the still pictures. However, with just a couple videos, I have a pretty good idea of what you are selling. Looking good.

We've added frame extensions as an option to the system.

This allows you to pack heavy with a tall frame which increases the load lifter angle and the taller top compression strap allows you to raise the center of gravity up behind your shoulders. Both of these allow for more comfortable heavy load carriage.

The shorter frame is much better for head movement and for going through and under brush. In other words, it is perfect for hunting.

question-does the thing you call the encasement give rigidity between the frame extension? what I mean is most external frame packs have a cross bar of some sort between the two vertical frame bars. I watched your last video on the frame extension but couldn't quite figure that out. your system looks like it saves on weight too.
is the waist belt nice and fat for hip cushioning?

Jim, I was wondering how long it would take someone to mention my accent.

I love the mountains, especially the San Juans so if I ever move that would be the place. But my family has been in the same spot since 1812 so its hard to leave roots that deep.

The frame siderails are stabilized, but they can move back and forth with your shoulders.

The waistbelt is the best I've used. I've had over 20 high end packs meant for hunting and packing weight, but our belt really shines. It is light, flexible, and comfortable, and most importantly it does not slip under heavy loads.

I shot a couple photos of the compression yesterday. This is the best treestand hauler I've used. I've tried externals and zip ties, MOLLE harness and belt, and expensive packs. The Evo is simple and comfortable. I'm excited about this application.

The Evo will haul nearly anything.....including a 235/85 R16 spare off my F250.
