How do you use your bowsite?

Postby >>>---WW----> » 08 22, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Everything I read lately tells us to center the sight housing in the peep and place the proper yardage pin on the target. Well, it sure don't work for me! I guess I'm just old school. Or maybe just plain old. But when using that method, I shoot all over the place. So I went back to my old tried and true method of forgetting about the sight housing being centered in the peep and instead, just centering the sight pin itself in the center. It is pretty much an automatic thing for the eye to do that anyhow. Kinda like shooting a peep sight on a rifle. Your eye automatically centers the front bead in the peep.

So how do the rest of you sight shooters do it?

You're so wrong, how could you post that on the internet? :lol:

JUST KIDDING... but I do use mine exactly how you don't use yours. I'm sure the only really correct answer to your question is "Consistently."

As for shooting a peep site on a rifle, I just center the front sight in the peep. If I had a front sight housing (like some competitive guys do) I may have to re-think that one.

It sounds like it works for you. I suppose you are like most shooters -- you do it the way you've always done it and it works so why would you change?

I center my housing in my peep then check my bubble then once my eye sees the pin I don't stop looking at it until I hear my arrow hit the target. It took a lot of shots and discipline for me personally not to try and look at my arrow after the release, I would pull my shot every time when I would do that. My bow setup and sight are dead nuts, so I no if that pin doesn't move my arrow is going to hit that spot every time. When I see an animal coming in and I know I'm going to get a shot, I still to this day tell myself to stay with the pin. Just a habit after all these years of shooting a bow I guess. That's what works for me.

Arc to Arc.
Line the top arc of my peep sight up with the top arc of my housing. Seems to work for me.

I started out centering the pin until I was "corrected ".

I center my sight housing within my peep sight. The peep is sized to just barely cover the sight housing at draw. I adjust my peep sight height to get my comfortable and CONSISTENT anchor point and adjust the sight housing to that.

I run 1/4" peep, it allows more light in, during low light conditions.

I center the sight housing in the peep, then set the pin on the point of imact
