CNELK got me to thinking what have other elk nuts created ? Time to show off your homemade equipment! I build rifles the long range kind.

I made a couple of custom stuff sacks over the weekend. When cooking over fire things get sooty and I wanted some to hold my kit securely and last a long time.

I used heavily coated Oxford and double stitched with Tex 70 so they should last forever. I need a machine...it takes forever sewing by hand.

Here is another cook kit I made- double walled alky stove, pot stand made from scrap wire, and an aluminum foil windscreen.

I've made several alcohol stoves myself. Also quite a few knives and a home made bowpress.

Made a Tipi, ala Kifaru. My suggestion, buy one from Kifaru.I have this 'problem', I hate to buy when I think I can build. I make knives, so, of course, I had to build a knife belt grinder and a 2000 deg knife kiln...

I made the trailer from scratch to fit the tent. I also use it for camping. I am going to use it on my first elk hunt in Oct. second rifle. Cant wait!!!!!!!!!!

My truck is a short box, so when I loaded up my Wife, Son, two dogs, dirt bike, firewood and camping gear, there wasn't enough room. I didn't want to haul a trailer, so I modified a regular contractors ladder rack to create an overhead cargo rack.

Still need to grind all of the welds and paint, but this is what she turned out to be.

I can't take credit for the welding quality, If I had been responsible for the welding . . . it wouldn't have made it past a bunch of cut up pieces of pipe. :-)

I, sadly, haven't learned how to weld yet. Well, that's not true, I have seen it enough to know how (in theory), but I haven't been allowed the opportunity to practice at all. I was hoping that this project would be a good intro, but the tube walls were so thin that the rod kept burning through. I would have just made holes. We ran out of time last weekend for me to spend any time welding scraps together. :-(

I make all sorts of stuff for hunting.
My own layout blinds for geese
boat blind
Decoy bags
ground Box blind for elk
Just finishing a small 49x90 ATV trailer for packing in gear on ATV trails, goose and deer hunting
Carpet archery target
Use to make my own duck goose and preditor calls
My own baits and lures for trapping( and resale) trap stakes snares stc,..

The trailer isnt complete, it pulls and pushs like a dream it weighs about 280 lbs

I made the target 5 years ago, It took about 4 hours to make. My daughter and son in law use it a lot.
The ATV rack I made to mount my wifes queen chair, the dogs can fit on each side of the chair. With the chair removed I can hauul a lot of gear( or a deer ). The black metal on the target is a single and double canoe rack that fits on the head-ach rack on my pickup.
