a simple Foam sleeping pad?

i've been seeing hunters on TV using thermarest foam pads.

Nate on Western Hunter uses them. i grew up using that cheap blue thing. then upgraded to a cheap slightly thicker green thing.

i now have a BA Qcore SL. super light, comfy. i do miss pulling out a foam pad, laying it out next to a river in the shade and catching a cat nap. the foam pad is LIGHTER than my SL. thinner, less R-rating. i am thinking of trying one on my next deer trip. it wont be especially cold.

i have to hide my bow on the hike in and it can double as a bow shield inside my pillow case.

anyone using one instead of an inflatable?

Im a scout master so I get to see a lot of gear.
Cheap walmart closed cell $10.0z lite pads serves most boys
a lot of guys like the solite and Z style pad

I dump my camp out of my pickup.I have been using a 6x7' closed cell 1/2 foam , protects me from rocks , cacti, sage brush stubs and other nasty sharp stuff on the ground you don't know about until your in your bag
then 3" real thick open cell foam
then my Cabelas 36x80 air/foam pad

I use a foam pad a lot even a blue Walmart one sometimes even though I have a UL downmat. I sometimes couple it with a prolite torso for more comfort. I've carried the torso prolite at 8 ounces on day hikes that are long in case I want a nap

It's a national park. No hunting zone. We agree not to rile up the tree huggers in the permit. We behave accordingly so we don't lose the permission to cross over into the wilderness.

I use the "thermarest" foam pad. It's enough for me.

Thankfully, I have spent my last night on one of those. I find them cold, hard, and very uncomfortable. But ... they are inexpensive. And light.

My son uses a z-lite pad from Thermarest. Of course, he can seemingly just turn around 3 times and curl up like a dog just about anywhere. Me? I love my BAIAC.
